Commercial Boiler Upgrade Carterton Council Offices
Oxford Commercial Heating carried out a commercial boiler upgrade at Carterton Council Offices in West Oxfordshire, replacing an ageing Worcester Bosch system with a new Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48kW boiler.
The existing plant was inefficient and poorly circulated. As a result, it was no longer delivering consistent heating across the building. We were appointed to design and install a modern solution to improve reliability, performance and long-term efficiency.
The upgrade included new system filtration, a Grundfos circulation pump, and fully insulated copper pipework throughout.
The Existing System
The existing heating system at Carterton Council Offices centred on an ageing Worcester Bosch commercial boiler, supported by outdated pipework and poor circulation.
Over time, the system had become unreliable. Consequently, heat distribution across the building was poor and maintenance requirements were increasing. Furthermore, the layout lacked modern filtration and hydraulic optimisation, which placed unnecessary strain on the boiler and reduced overall efficiency.
Due to the condition of the plant, a full upgrade was clearly needed to restore reliable performance and long-term energy efficiency.
The Upgrade
To modernise the system, we installed a new Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48kW commercial boiler, delivering a significant improvement in efficiency, reliability and controllability.
We also added high-performance magnetic filtration using MagnaClean filters. These protect the boiler and system components from sludge and debris — a common issue in older commercial heating systems.
In addition, we fitted a new Grundfos pump to improve flow rates and ensure balanced heat distribution throughout the building.
Finally, we reconfigured all primary and secondary pipework in copper and fully insulated it to reduce heat loss. The result is improved hydraulic performance and long-term reliability.

The Result
The new system at Carterton Council Offices now delivers consistent, reliable heat throughout the building. Moreover, efficiency and performance have improved significantly compared to the previous installation.
The Vaillant ecoTEC Plus 48kW boiler, combined with improved circulation and filtration, has reduced strain on the system. As a result, the risk of future breakdowns is considerably lower.
Overall, this installation provides a robust, long-term solution for a busy commercial environment — with lower maintenance requirements and better operational efficiency.
